Bio: My name is Aleisha Knight Evans and I am a Corpus Christi-based fine artist, photographer and graphic designer. I was born and raised in picturesque Northwestern Michigan, daughter to an artist and a musician. Growing up in such a beautiful place (with encouraging parents!) certainly nurtured my creative spirit. In 2003, I received my B.A.A. in Graphic Design and Advertising from Central Michigan University. Commercial art seemed to be an obvious choice; I always wanted to be a visual artist, but didn't fancy the idea of “starving”. Since then, I have worked at a photography studio, a graphic design studio, and at a church, as a media director. When I relocated to Corpus Christi with my husband in 2009, I decided that it was time to start my own studio: Aleisha Knight Evans Photography and Design. These days, I'm amazed to find that I spend most of my time creating fine art, instead of commercial art. I feel very blessed to be a “working artist” - I never imagined that I would be so fortunate as to make a living doing what I love most!
My general aesthetic philosophy is to create pieces that are visually interesting, yet approachable, even to those outside the art community. I love bold colors and strong concepts. Although every piece I create is inspired by a deeply personal experience, I try to keep my work ambiguous so that the viewer can find their own meaning, or simply enjoy the colors and design.
