Mission Statement:
The mission of the Corpus Christi Downtown Artwalk is to encourage City residents, visitors, and tourists to explore our developing Downtown District and to appreciate the sights, venues and entertainment currently available to them. At the same time we invite like-minded entities to participate in the growing amount of activity in the Downtown area and encourage them to invest in the economic development of the district.
All this we strive to achieve through the medium of art, entertainment and the Soul of Corpus Christi.
ArtWalk in a Nutshell:
The Downtown ArtWalk is a self guided tour of art galleries, museums, gallery for the evening shops, and many other venues which open, free to the public, on the First Friday of every month from 5:30pm until 9pm. Having grown to include over 65 venues and stretching 23 city blocks it is now somewhat more than a “walk”.
The DTown Tram or "HOBO Express"
Free transport is provided by the CCRTA; The ArtWalk Express – Route #79 ,which services the outlying venues between 5:30pm & 9pm, connects at La Retama Park with the DTown Tram which circulates around the Central Downtown area with on board entertainment provided by local band “HOBO“. Both routes are detailed on the ArtWalk map available on this website and at venues on ArtWalk night.
HOBO play their own brand of "Honkadelic" entertainment
The event begins and ends in La Retama Park where ArtWalkers will find artists, food vendors, live music, kids art activities, and an all round festive atmosphere culminating with a prize draw at 8:45pm where valuable prizes can be won. In addition to the organized entertainment ArtWalkers are always sure to find a selection of local artists, musicians, and entertainers out on the sidewalks providing informal entertainment according to their individual talents. The official end of ArtWalk is 9pm but don’t let that fool you. There are many regular after parties arranged commencing from 9pm onwards and if we know about them details will be available in the monthly newsletter and from ArtWalk Ambassadors.
